SUCCESSFUL FAT FOR OFFSHORE DRILLING EQUIPMENT – SCCS & DLC
We are excited and proud to have successfully fabricated and tested the Sheave Cluster Compensation System & Drilling Equipment – DLC for a long-term and loyal client in the offshore drilling industry.
SCCS unit compensates for the vertical movement of offshore drilling rigs by isolating motion from the drill string, preventing riser string buckling, and maintaining constant tension to guidelines and podlines.
The Deadline Compensator DLC-1250, a direct line compensator system with an integrated traveling block, minimizes the effects of drilling vessel heave on the fixed and rotating drill string and bit.
All 4 units (2 each) weighing 225tons were fully built and certified in accordance with DNV OS-E101, DNV OS-C401, ISO 2768MK, EN ISO 5817, and the client’s standards.
Our scope of work included shop design, procurement, fabrication, mechanical, E&I assembly, and FAT. Despite challenges in tight scheduling, fabrication requirements, precision machining (tight tolerances), welding (in confined spaces and corners), E&I, installation, and testing, our team delivered outstanding results.
